David Hudgins

 

David Hudgins is an accomplished playwright, actor, director, teacher and producer. He is also a songwriter, sound designer and video designer. His wide range of abilities have made him a boon to the theatre community. He is a founder of the highly acclaimed Electric Company Theatre in Vancouver, whose artists he met while attending Studio 58, Langara College. Through a decade of incredible experiences with this innovative company David has won numerous Jessie Awards including: Best Original Script (Brilliant!, The Score); Outstanding Production (Brilliant!, The Score, The One That Got Away, The Fall); and for Video Design in The Fall. He has been nominated for Outstanding Sound Design / Composition in The One That Got Away and Flop; and Outstanding Video Design for Palace Grand. David has also worked for a variety of other companies, including The Arts Club, Green Thumb, Richmond Gateway, Touchstone, and Carousel. Some recent highlights have been dramaturging the hit show Mom's the Word II for the Arts Club, appearing as Thomas Edison in Brilliant! at The National Arts Centre, directing a hit production of Guys and Dolls for Studio 58, and creating the name for the "Magnetic North Theatre Festival". David is currently the Associate Director at Studio 58, Langara College. He is married to Julia McGeer. They have two children, Sophie & Evan.
