A short, fifteen minute installation piece originally designed for an audience of one, we are very pleased to offer this online version of the rare experience the Georgia Straight called one of Vancouver's top ten performing arts events of 2006.

At Home with Dick and Jane begins with a three-part interview with the director of the film adaptation of Dick and Jane, and with the director of the stage play on which it's based:

You are then led into a nearby room, seated on a dolly track, and given a limited line of vision similar to a movie frame.  An operator moves and turns you like a camera as you proceed through the environment, and a meticulously staged play unfolds around you:

And here's the backstage view of the dolly track moving through the space:

At Home with Dick and Jane is created by Electric Company's David Hudgins, Kim Collier, and Jonathon Young.  The play was first produced at a landmark Canadian theatre event HIVE, at Vancouver's Chapel Arts Centre, 2006.  HIVE represented the collective coming-out party of a number of British Columbia's most innovative performance creation companies, including Radix, Boca del Lupo, Neworld Theatre, Theatre SKAM, Rumble Productions, Theatre Replacement, Felix Culpa, Leaky Heaven, The Only Animal, and Theatre Conspiracy.
