As a director, have you ever found yourself asking these questions:

  • Do I need a composer or sound designer for this project?
  • What does the composer require from me in our first meeting to get started?
  • Where is sound placed and who decides this?
  • My sound designer isn’t giving me what I need in this scene, how can I ask for something different?

Seasoned composer, Joelysa Pankanea, has created an innovative new workshop for directors in which she addresses these topics and answers many of the questions we have around the roles of sound designers, composers, and musical directors. Learn how the arc of sound is created for a score, how to get what you need from your sound designer, and discuss some tips and tricks for better communication. Joelysa’s workshop offers a safe and interactive space to pose questions and get the information you need to build beautiful relationships with your sound department. Let’s get together and discuss the ways to achieve better sounding, fully integrated music into our projects, together.

–This workshop will take place in Zoom with a maximum capacity of five people–

To create a safe space for open dialogue and sharing between participants, workshop discussions will be kept strictly confidential.
