A Faust Project by Jonathon Young
This project will discard the traditional portrait of Faust as a learned doctor. Instead the protagonist is divided between the performers on stage; a diverse mix of age and gender. The production is set in today’s world where access to information is both blessing and curse.
About the inspiration behind this project, Jonathon writes,
“I’d like to examine the Faustian Bargain as an essential step; filled with risk, but nonetheless the starting point to life and learning. Hell is believing it wasn’t worth it, and Heaven, (just as in Goethe’s play) is only found through a continual striving to find love: love for our fellow humans and love for life.
In today’s apocalypse-haunted world I find myself constantly torn between wanting to know what is really going on and wanting to turn away.”
