Join the creative team behind the world premiere of Epigone, Electric Company Theatre’s newest production by Kevin Kerr, directed by Jonathon Young.

Electric Company Theatre is seeking a Communications & Digital Content Coordinator to support the marketing and communications campaign for this ambitious new production.

This is a short-term contract beginning August 24, 2026 and continuing through November 30, 2026, averaging approximately 10 hours per week (14 weeks). Much of the work can be completed remotely; however, regular on-site attendance will be required during the rehearsal and production period, primarily between October 4 and November 15, to capture content and document the creative process. This work will take place at rehearsal and performance venues in Vancouver’s Historic Chinatown and Strathcona neighbourhoods. Successful applicants should be comfortable working in active rehearsal and performance environments and, when required, outside of standard business hours, including some evenings and weekends.

Is this you?

You’re passionate about contemporary performance and digital storytelling, with a strong visual sensibility and an instinct for communicating artistic ideas through thoughtful, engaging, and aesthetically cohesive digital content.

You’re creative, highly organized, and exceptionally detail-oriented. You have a strong sense of story, an excellent eye for design, and outstanding writing, editing, and proofreading skills. You take pride in producing polished, accurate work and know that the smallest details matter.

You’re comfortable taking initiative, managing your own workflow, and working independently while remaining collaborative, responsive, and adaptable within a fast-moving creative environment. You enjoy finding compelling ways to tell the story of a production—from the first rehearsal through to opening night—and are excited by the opportunity to contribute to a unified communications campaign across social media, web, and email.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Creative Producer and artistic team, you will:

  • Develop and implement a coordinated communications and social media strategy leading up to and throughout the production.
  • Create engaging written, photographic, graphic, and video content for Instagram, Facebook, and other relevant digital platforms.
  • Capture and edit behind-the-scenes content during rehearsals, technical rehearsals, production activities, and performances.
  • Design digital promotional assets that align with Electric Company’s visual identity.
  • Schedule, publish, and monitor social media content while tracking audience engagement.
  • Help shape the overall voice and visual identity of the campaign across digital platforms.
  • Update and maintain the Electric Company Theatre website.
  • Prepare and distribute e-newsletters through our email marketing platform.
  • Coordinate digital communications with advertising, media, and partnership initiatives.
  • Gather promotional assets, artist biographies, photography, and other campaign materials from collaborators.
  • Document the creative process for future organizational communications and archival purposes.
  • Attend selected rehearsals, media calls, events, and performances as required.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience managing communications and social media for an arts organization, cultural institution, or creative practice.
  • A strong eye for graphic design, composition, typography, branding, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience creating and editing short-form video content for social media.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design software.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience updating websites using a content management system (WordPress experience is an asset).
  • Experience using email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or similar.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage competing priorities.
  • An interest in contemporary theatre, live performance, and artist-driven creation.

Experience with photography, social media analytics, paid digital advertising, and accessible digital communications will be considered assets.

Contract

  • 24 August – 30 November 2026 (14 weeks)
  • Approximately 10 hours per week
  • Hybrid (remote and on-site)
  • $32-$36 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications
