The Crows Transcending is a new play in development by Kwantlen playwright and storyteller Joseph Dandurand. Set between the caves of ancestral memory and the streets of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, it follows four characters bound by trauma, vision, and survival as they confront the violence of colonial history and the ongoing crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2-Spirit people. Electric Company Theatre is proud to support its development through a script workshop at Left of Main.

In this bold new work, Carmen Aguirre explores the life of Italian photographer and revolutionary Tina Modotti. Set during her final moments, the play weaves together twenty-five episodes that span 1920s Mexico, anti-fascist Europe, and the Spanish Civil War—asking urgent questions about art, activism, and personal sacrifice.
