Carmen Aguirre – Writing & Direction
Carmen (she/her) is a Chilean-Canadian Vancouver-based Theatre Artist and Author who has written and co-written over twenty-five plays and two bestselling memoirs, including the #1 international bestseller Something Fierce: Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter. She is a Core Artist at Electric Company Theatre and a 2020 Siminovitch Prize Finalist. carmenaguirre.ca

Carmen Alatorre – Costume Design
Originally from Mexico, Carmen has a Licenciatura (BFA) degree in Art History and earned her MFA degree in Theatre Design at the University of British Columbia (2010). She is currently based in lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Territories (Victoria, BC). With over 90 design credits, some of her recent costume designs were seen in companies such as: Arts Club Theatre Company, Bard on the Beach, Globe Theatre Regina, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Citadel Theatre, Milwaukee Rep Theater, Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. Candelario Andrade – Projection Design
Candelario is a video editor and designer of media for theatre, dance and performance arts. Recent editor credits include: Done/Undone (Bard on the Beach); Grand Acts of Hope (Mortal Coil/Coastal Wolf Pack); Artificial Eden (SFU); Same Old, Same Old; Taking Shakespeare; The Refugee Project (Belfry Theatre); Body Parts (Tara Cheyenne Performance). Theatre design credits include: Boy in the Moon (Neworld), and Pathetic Fallacy (The Chop); Anywhere But Here (Electric Company); House and Home (Firehall). Cande recently edited the shorts, The Day The Cat Saved My Life (Dir. Kagan Go) and Jesus Blood (Dir. Aryo Khakpour); and has also worked for Knowledge Network, VIFF and Mochizuki Studios. Cande is a faculty teacher at Studio58 and co-artistic director of Rough House productions.

Jack Chipman – Technical Direction & Media Integration
Jack is a Vancouver based projection designer and technologist. His work integrates physical elements into digital spaces through the use of cameras, digital props, and image filtering. He is excited by the merging of different mediums to create an immersive experience. Jack’s past credits include The Flying Dutchman (Vancouver Opera), The Door Project (plastic orchid factory), An Undeveloped Sound (Electric Company Theatre), Szepty/Whispers (Rumble Theatre), Romeo and Juliet (Vancouver Symphony Orchestra), Dance Craft (Joe Ink), and Ghost Forest (Simon Fraser University). Hazel Eason – Assistant Direction
Hazel is an emerging theatre artist from the Fraser Valley with a focus on directing. She has acted and directed with various community theatre companies throughout the Fraser Valley as well as her personal favourite, Theatre Under the Stars in Stanley Park – once as an actor in 2023 playing Mrs. Phelps in Matilda, and then again in 2024 in a Directing Fellowship with School of Rock. Most recently she directed staged readings of two new works with UBC’s Brave New Play Wrights Festival and worked as an Assistant Director on Here We Go with Western Gold Theatre.

Monica Emme – Props Design
Monica (she/her) is a Vancouver based set designer, props and puppet creator. Monica holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Toronto Metropolitan University and a diploma of Stagecraft and Event Technology from Douglas College. Monica teaches the next generation in stagecraft at Arts Umbrella. Zack Faulks – Production Assistance
Zack is an Vancouver-based artist born and raised on the unceded kʷikʷəƛ̓əm, Tsleil-Waututh and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm territories, now called Coquitlam. He divides his time evenly between set construction and the creation of new theatre, most recently working as a producer on the musical World Ender, premiering at Presentation House Theatre. He is also a member of the wâpanacahkos dance collective, and teaches Jiu Jitsu in his spare time.

James Gnam – Choreography
James (he/him) is a Vancouver-based choreographer whose research investigates the reciprocal tensions between embodiment, technology and social exchange. A graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School, he has interpreted repertoire for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Ballet BC, EDAM Dance and 10 Gates Dancing, performing landmark creations by Crystal Pite, Twyla Tharp, Jiří Kylián, Mark Morris, Peter Bingham and Tedd Robinson. Gnam is the Artistic Director of Plastic Orchid Factory, a founding member of Left of Main, and an associate artist with Mélanie Demers’ MAYDAY and Jacques Poulin-Denis’ Grand Poney.

Jan Hodgson – Stage Management
Jan is a Vancouver based Theatre and Dance Stage Manager. Her previous shows for Electric Company Theatre include Betroffenheit (Kidd Pivot), Reframed, Tear The Curtain!, Studies in Motion: The Hauntings of Eadweard Muybridge, You Are Very Star, Palace Grand, No Exit and The Valet, The One That Got Away, Brilliant! The Blinding Enlightenment of Nikola Tesla, Everyone, Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands.

Peter Jotkus – Assistant Stage Management
Peter is a Vancouver-based Stage Manager with over thirty years experience creating live theatre including large scale musicals, opera, film projects and dance. He has worked at most of Canada’s regional theatres including: The Arts Club, Pacific Opera, the Vancouver Playhouse, Bard on the Beach, Citadel Theatre, Banff Centre, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Stratford and Shaw Festivals, the Canadian Stage Company, LIVENT, the National Arts Centre, and the Charlottetown Festival.

Shizuka Kai – Set Design
Shizuka is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist whose expertise spans puppetry, set design, illustration, and jewelry making. Her theatrical portfolio includes collaborations with companies such as Arts Club, Theatre Replacement, Théâtre la Seizième, Carousel Theatre for Young People, Rumble, Neworld, and Boca del Lupo. A Studio 58 graduate, she has earned five Jessie Richardson Awards, an Ovation Award, the Earl Klein Memorial Scholarship, and the Steven B Jung Award. Her diverse creative practice seamlessly bridges performance, visual arts, and craftsmanship. She currently teaches as an instructor at Studio 58. Explore her work at shizuka.ca.

Evan Rein – Sound Design
Evan is an actor and sound designer. Previous sound designs: Firehall Arts Centre, Studio 58, happy/accidents. As an actor: Bard on the Beach, Theatre Calgary, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Pacific Theatre, Globe Theatre, Carousel Theatre, Theatre Replacement. Film/TV: Under the Bridge (Hulu), Upload (Amazon), Valley of the Boom (National Geographic), Nancy Drew (CW), Debris (NBC), Heartland (CBC), Sacred Lies (Facebook), Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (NBC). Awards: nominations for both Leo Awards and UBCP/ACTRA Awards for Best Lead Performance by a Male in a Motion Picture (Blue Hour). Up next: AMC’s The Audacity premiering next year. Evan is a graduate of Studio 58.

Emma Tibaldo – Dramaturgy
Emma is Artist in Residence at Concordia University, Theatre Department. She is a freelance Director and Dramaturg and Associate Artist with Poverty Cove Theatre. She is the former AED of Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal (PWM), where she dramaturgically collaborated on many plays, including Mizushōbai by Julie Tamiko Manning, Thy Woman’s Weeds by Erin Shields, Jabber by Marcus Youssef, Squawk by Megan Coles, Instant by Erin Shields, Refuge by Mary Vingoe, and Behaviour by Darrah Teitel. She is a recipient of LMDA’s Elliott Hayes Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dramaturgy. Emma has directed new Canadian plays across the country.

John Webber – Lighting Design
John is honoured to be working with such a wonderful group of artists and also to be back working with the Electrics. A long time designer of both Sets and Lighting he has had the privilege of working with some of Canada’s most talented and adventurous artists. Past credits for The Electric Company Theatre include: Hive 2, No Exit, and Palace Grand. Past favorite credits include: Kinky Boots, Onegin, and Angels in America Part 1 and 2,for the Arts Club Theatre Company. The Sound of Music, Chelsea Hotel, Wizard of Oz for Western Canada Theatre. Rigoletto and Marriage of Figaro for Vancouver Opera.

Praneet Akilla – Acting (Edward Weston/Ensemble)
Praneet Akilla is an award winning Indian-Canadian Actor & Producer best known for his leading roles on The CW’s Nancy Drew, Disney Freeform’s Motherland Fort Salem, and Netflix’s October Faction. He is a series lead on the Canadian Screen Award nominated medical drama -Skymed- on CBC Gem & Paramount Plus. Over the last 3 years Praneet has made the successful transition into producing a variety of critically acclaimed short films and digital series with his new production company Akilla Express, focusing on telling unique, genre-bending stories from a Third Culture Global Majority perspective.

Tasha Faye Evans – Cast (Tina’s Mother/Ensemble)
Tasha is a dancer, theatre artist, creative consultant, cultural programmer, and educator from Coast Salish, Welsh and European-Jewish grandparents. Her work is an integration of dance, theatre and culture driven by the sacred responsibility to care for the future of all our relations. Her dance practice is directly related to the land and the cultural teachings of the Ancestor’s Eye, a symbol of Coast Salish design and a core teaching of our culture.

Ximeno Garduño – Cast (Frida Kahlo/Ensemble)
Ximena is a Latinx TV and theatre actress born in Querétaro, México. Garduño began her training as a performer at EMPA, an improvisation and movement-based school. Later she worked in two professional companies: El Sotano Teatro and Garito de Los Emulantes. Ximena moved to Canada to do her BFA at the University of Victoria, where she acted in two plays put on by The Phoenix Theatre, including the role of Medea in Mojada, directed by Carmen Aguirre, and Cleopatra in Dean Gabourie’s Shakespeare’s Women. Ximena is excited to continue telling stories through her work in the Canadian theater and film industry.

Brian Martinez – Cast (Xavier Guerrero/Ensemble)
Brian Martinez is a Latinx/Canadian Artist and recent Studio 58 graduate. Originally from Amiskwaciy Waskahikan (Edmonton A.B.), he is a Mover and groover, loving all forms of dance but especially Salsa, Hip-Hop and contemporary. He’s always loved the medium of film and loves to make short films with his friends on their youtube channel. Ever since he got his first camera 6 years ago, he has loved photography and takes it with him everywhere he travels. He loves staying active and recently started dabbling in boxing and rock climbing.

Melissa Oei – Cast (Sagradx Corazon)

Melissa is an Asian-Canadian theatre actor and emerging director born and raised on traditional Coast Salish territories. A graduate of Studio 58, Melissa has worked with companies across Western Canada. Recent credits include The Mousetrap (Arts Club), Pride & Prejudice (WCT/Gateway), Middletown (Sticks& Stones), A Doll’s House Part 2 (Western Gold), Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery (Gateway), Division Infinity Saves the World (Neworld), Unexpecting (Zee Zee), The Café (Aphotic/Itsazoo), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Bard on the Beach), Lampedusa and  Beautiful Man (Pi Theatre). Melissa is grateful to Carmen Aguirre and Electric Company for presenting this beautiful piece of work and to all of the artists she has met and collaborated with over the past five years workshopping this piece. Mi corazón está lleno ❤️ 

Matheus Severo – Cast (Diego Rivera/Ensemble)
Matheus (he/him) is a Brazilian actor excited for his debut with Electric Company Theatre! His stage experience includes Carousel Theatre, rice & beans theatre, vAct, Ruby Slippers Theatre, Direct Theatre, Alley Theatre, Firehall Arts Centre, Rumble Theatre, and Arts Club, contributing to performances and readings. On screen, you might recognize him from film festivals across BC, Netflix’s The Midnight Club, or commercials for Pepsi, Werther’s Original, 1-800-Got-Junk, PetSmart, and others. A Studio 58 graduate, Matheus has been honoured with nominations for Outstanding Performance from the OVATION! Awards and Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards.

Marianna Zouzoulas – Cast (Tina Modotti)
Marianna is an emerging multidisciplinary artist originally from the unceded territories of the Anishinaabe, known as “Ottawa”. Marianna moved to Vancouver in 2021 to attend Studio 58’s acting program, from where she graduated recently. As a performer on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, her select credits include Miranda (The Tempest, Studio 58), Lucinda, (Into the Woods, Studio 58), and Mia (Panty Sniffers, FourPlay Festival, Studio 58).
