Be careful what you found
In the 1950s, a factory teeters on the edge of collapse. Two brothers compete for the affection of the workers, and for control of their deceased father’s business. But when a mysterious woman answers a job posting, their rivalry escalates until it reaches deadly proportions. As inexplicable accidents begin to occur, tension rises and the workers grow violent. Blood will have blood, and before peace can be achieved someone must be chosen to take the fall.
Forged in the industrial remains of an abandoned factory, this site-specific horror explores the function of the scapegoat and the ever-present forces of violence in our society. Inspired by the writings of Rene Girard and created using found office equipment and heavy machinery left scattered throughout the factory, the script was written through improvisation over the course of six weeks inside the factory. The Fall utilizes some half a million cubic feet of performance space featuring five-tonne overhead cranes carrying actors above the crowd, two-storey video projections, a suspended bed for an aerial sex scene, and the presence of an ominous black van driven by a demonic salesman.

“If you want to take an exhilarating swim in the creative juices that are cascading through the Vancouver theatre scene right now, dive into the delights of THE FALL.”
“The Electric Company’s vaunted approach to creating theatre in unexpected places is taken to new heights and depths in The Fall. The result is a two-act treat that’s hip, hilarious and yes, even occasionally outright horrifying.”
